Today, Insta360 launched its waterproof housing accessory for the Insta360 ONE.
The housing has an IP68 rating against dust and both splashing and submersion in water at depths up to 30 meters. However, as Insta360 noted in its latest blog post, the Insta360 ONE isn’t designed for underwater video capture, during which light is refracted through the water and can lead to stitching lines between the camera’s two lenses.
The waterproof housing does, however, let you control the camera using a button located outside the housing (you can also control the camera via Bluetooth).
You’ll notice in the video above some unique uses for the Insta360 ONE’s free capture and bullet time features when equipped with the new waterproof housing.
The accessory is now available on Insta360’s website and on Amazon for $49, but will not be usable until the latest version of the Insta360 ONE app is launched Nov. 17.
