What comes in the box:
Camera, battery and charging cable, carrying bag and mini tripod
What doesn’t come in the box:
- Micro SD card, up to 128GB. Must be U3 or faster.
- Extra batteries. The camera uses this battery, the same battery as the YI 4K action camera.
- YI’s own selfie stick and bluetooth remote for the camera (get links from Michael)
- MicrophoneThis is a description of a microphone it goes here and it’s long so that we see if it gets cut off. adapter (get link from Michael)
Helpful hints:
- The camera’s removable battery lasts for 60 minutes at 4K or 40 minutes at 5.7K. It can also run off external USB power.
- The camera’s power button is also the shutter button, which is also the select button, and then there are up and down buttons to select things from the menu, which appears on the OLED screen on the top of the camera. This is how you change modes and settings, just like the Samsung Gear 360 cameras.
- The camera has three different focus modes: indoor, outdoor and infinite (for very, very wide open spaces).
- It also has three different scene modes: automatic, stage (for use with unbalanced exposures across the camera’s two lenses) and night mode.

- The YI 360 VR camera is not an action camera, so do not drop it, toss it in the pool, or coat it in dust! It is, however, operable from 31 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Although you can’t watch what you’re recording AS you record, you do get a live preview up until the moment you hit record when the camera is paired with your smartphone.
- The camera does not have internal stabilization, so use it mounted on a gimbal like the Moza Guru 360 ($299) for moving shots. However, when asked if the camera had internal stabilization (there was a rumor flying around for awhile that it did), the YI representative said “Not yet.” (!)
- 5.7K stitching must be done on desktop, using YI’s own stitching software (which uses optical flow stitching, but is currently only available for PC) (Get link from Michael) or via a third-party solution like Kolor Autopano Video Pro or MistikaVR. YI recommends Mistika VR, but there’s no stitching template yet available (that we know of).
