Insta360 has released Insta360 8K Live, a new live streaming software that allows broadcasters to stitch and broadcast immersive video at resolutions up to 8K. The software can also be used to insertClose-up shot of an object or detail previously seen in a wider angle. high-resolution reframed shots from 360 video into traditional SDI broadcasts in real time.
“This tech has groundbreaking potential at a time when COVID-19 has underlined the need for new ways to enjoy live events,” said Insta360’s PR team.
The software was tested on the first-ever 8K 360-degree live stream of an NFL game, by a team from Radiant Images, Verizon and Flight School Studio. The feed was integrated into ESPN’s live broadcast and projected into a dome 200 miles away in Miami.
The team used Verizon’s 5G network, two Insta360 Pro 2 360 live streaming cameras, and the newly launched Insta360 8K Live software.
“After testing and refinement at the hands of teams like Radiant Images, this professional VR live streaming software is now officially available to broadcasters everywhere,” reads Insta360’s blog post.
How to Use Insta360 8K Live Stitching Software
To take advantage of Insta360 8K Live, owners of the Insta360 Pro 2 or Insta360 Titan can simply install the Insta360 8K Live software and connect the above cameras to a server PC with a router or Ethernet cable. More (7680×3840 2D @30fps), ready to be broadcast via a cloud-connected streaming server.
A full-quality, stitched video file can be simultaneously saved locally on the server PC for later processing and playback.
Insta360 recommends the following set-up:

- Memory: 16GB or more
- Graphics Card: Dual GTX 2080Ti
- OS: Windows 10 or above
