YouTube, Daydream and VRScout are calling for applications for the partnership’s VR Creator Lab in London.
The three-month opportunity to experiment with YouTube’s VR180 format is open to individuals residing within the European Union, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland.
The VR Creator Lab includes training, mentoring and between $30,000 and $40,000 in funding to produce five original, experimental VR180 videos and one behind-the-scenes video. All gear will be provided by YouTube.
The creator lab begins with a three-day boot camp of workshops, coaching and social events at YouTube Space London September 18-20.
Applicants must either own a YouTube channel with at least 10,000 subscribers or be an independent filmmaker who has “preferably had previous work screened at a film or interactive media festival.”
They must also be fluent in English, be at least 18 years old, and have access to high speed bandwidth for video conferencing. They also cannot be a consumer brand or part of a larger production company with more than 15 employees.
Applications are due August 6 at 5 p.m. BST and finalists will be notified by the week of August 17 and selected by the end of August.
