The Nokia 8 was announced yesterday, and although a built-in 360 camera or 360 accessory wasn’t announced alongside the new smartphone, it does have a couple of interesting features that are one more step to immersive capture directly from your smartphone.
One of the most interesting features is its ability to live stream split screen video using both cameras, dubbed “Dual Sight,” to Facebook and Youtube using the main and front-facing cameras simultaneously. Although this doesn’t equate to 360-degree video, it does allow uses, in Nokia’s words, to “Be less selfie and more bothie.”

The Nokia 8’s dual-sight feature will allow users to live stream using both the front and main cameras simultaneously.
The cameras are equipped with Zeiss optics, and the main camera has two 13mp sensors, for color and monochrome, while the front-facing camera features one 13mp sensor.
Another interesting feature is that the device will be capable of capturing spatial audio alongside 4K fixed frame video for a more immersive experience. You can experience the difference between the Nokia 8’s binaural audio capabilities and stereo capture in the video above.
The device will also feature an audio focus mode to “accentuate the right sounds while reducing ambient sounds or background noiseUndesirable variations of brightness and/or color in an image that typically occur when recording at high ISOs in digita... More.”
The smartphone will have a 5.3-inch 2K LCD screen, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Snapdragon 835 chipset. It also has 64 GB of internal storage space, can support a micro SD card of up to 256 GB, and comes with unlimited storage with Google Photos.
The Nokia 8 will go on sale in early September for €599 (£546). For more information and the phone’s full specs, visit Nokia’s website.
