Firefox’s next update will add WebVR support for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headsets, so users can watch VR experiences directly from their browsers. However, a release date for the update has yet to be announced.
WebVR makes it possible to enjoy VR experiences without downloading an app for each individual experience. According to Road To VR, every major browser, except Safari, has “committed to adding WebVR support.”
The Firefox 55 update will offer browser support for both the Rift and Vive, their controllers and the Vive Tracker, for anyone using the updated browser. Watch the video above to see some samples of WebVR experiences.
Within Firefox, click the menu icon, then the question mark icon, and then “About Firefox” to see whether or not an update is available for you.
