Today, GoPro announced Fusion, a new 360 camera that can capture 5.2K 360 video and photos.
GoPro is now accepting applications for the small, wearable 360 camera’s pilot program, expected to Term meaning “record,” dating back to a time when physical film was rolled on an axle past the gate of a camera. out in the summer of 2017.
Pilot partners will include brands, agencies and content professionals and aims to refine the user experience prior to a limited commercial release by the end of 2017.
This comes after some speculation that GoPro was pulling back from its 360 and VR goals, with the closure of its 360 video hosting platform and a slew of layoffs over the past few months. But, I guess they were just reframing their 360 product line. I’m happy these hunches were wrong…
