World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) has just announced a new award for immersive journalism efforts, the VR Journalism Prize, for the best immersive journalism story.

WAN-IFRA represents more than 18,000 publications worldwide and is one of the largest journalism associations, internationally. The new prize is in partnership with the World VR Forum.

They are specifically looking for creative content with a “strong narrative, documentary, long story, interactive story or immersive experience” that “can clarify complex issues, enable certain sensations or emotions for the user, or both.”

As they write on their website, “Basically, we want to be impressed.”

If you think your work fits the bill, applications are open until April 27, 2018.

To learn more or to submit your work, visit the World VR Forum’s website.
