Google has announced it is now taking applications for its Jump Start program. The application period is open from Feb. 12 until Feb. 25, 2018.
The Jump Start program is aimed to connect filmmakers with the resources needed to create VR films, including a Jump camera and unlimited stitching with the Jump Assembler. This round of selected participants will receive a Yi Halo camera rig, instead of a GoPro Odyssey rig.
The Yi Halo rig offers a number of improvements over the initial camera setupA camera position for a given scene. Selected projects will receive access to the camera for two months between March 5 and May 7. Jump Start recipients will be notified of their acceptance by March 1.
Projects will be chosen based on originality, how well the idea fits the benefits of the VR medium, and how feasible the project is. A separate application is required for each project idea submitted.
